Found Safe And Sound

22/02/19 – This afternoon, RACQ Capricorn Rescue was tasked to search for an emergency beacon (EPIRB) that was reported to be transmitting approximately 50 kilometres off the Central Queensland Coast.

Rescue 300 was able to locate the beacon upon arrival to the area. A vessel was found anchored off an island without power and dead batteries. Both members on board were safe and sound.

The situation was reported back to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority in Canberra where it was decided that a Coast Guard vessel from Mackay would rendezvous with the stricken vessel to render assistance.
