Fuel Spill On Highway

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:30pm RACQ CapRescue was tasked to attend a motor vehicle and truck collision on the Capricorn Highway approximately 150kms west of Rockhampton.
A vehicle with 7 occupants collided with a truck, rupturing its fuel tanks. In the collision, the vehicle’s front right hand wheel and driver side door were torn from the vehicle, then continued to travel a further 100 meters down the road before coming to rest in the easement beside the highway.
The driver of the vehicle sustained a suspected broken arm and facial lacerations while the remaining occupants, including 5 children sustained only minor injuries.
As a precaution 2 of the children were taken by road to Blackwater Hospital while the driver of the vehicle was flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.
