Tourist Airlifted Off Island

12/12/18 –

At approximately 11.20am the RACQ Capricorn Rescue crew were tasked to an island approximately 80 kilometres off the Capricorn Coast to retrieve a patient who had ingested a significant amount of water whilst snorkelling. The patient, who is currently visiting from overseas, suffered respiratory distress as a result and required further medical assistance in Rockhampton.

Upon arrival to the scene, the patient was in a stable condition and had received initial medical treatment from staff on the island. The Rescue300 crew and the on board Critical Care Paramedic assisted to further stabilise the patient before being airlifted to the Rockhampton Base Hospital.
