Weekend Wrap Up
Posted on June 4th, 2018
Central Queensland kept our #RACQ #CapRescue crew quite busy over the weekend responding to 3 tasks. Late Saturday afternoon, around 4pm, Rescue300 was called to transport an injured 11 year old male who was suffering a suspected mid shaft femur fracture. The patient was receiving medical attention from Moura Hospital before he was airlifted to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for further treatment.
Soon after the crew returned to base from Moura they were tasked to a Primary job on Great Keppel Island where a 64 year old female patient required transportation to the Rockhampton Base Hospital after she was struck by a quad bike on the island. The patient was on holiday from Canberra with a friend when she was struck by the ATV and was subsequently thrown off her feet and in turn received suspected lower pelvic and spinal injuries.
The female patient was treated on scene by the Critical Care Paramedic where she was stabilised before being airlifted to the Rockhampton Base Hospital.
Early Sunday morning at around 5.30am the crew were tasked to Rodds Bay, 140km South East of Rockhampton where a 53 year old male was suspected to be suffering severe abdominal and back pain. The male patient who was on a fishing trip with a friend from the Sunshine Coast attempted to get up out of his swag in the early hours of the morning but was unable to move. The patient’s friend raised the alarm and consequently Rescue 300 was tasked. The crew managed to land on the beach during low tide to retrieve the patient.
Upon arrival at the scene, the on-board Critical Care Paramedic stabilised the patient before being flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
