Freak Wave Capsizes Boat

10/07/19 – RACQ Capricorn Rescue was tasked to rescue two male patients who had capsized their four-meter runabout on the Capricorn Coast.

The two men were fishing close to the beach when what was described as a “freak wave” hit the side of the vessel causing it to capsize.

The driver sustained a facial laceration while the other occupant was uninjured in the ordeal.

Luckily there were four-wheel drivers who witnessed the event and immediately rendered assistance and called “000”.

Both men were transported from the accident scene in a four-wheel drive to a nearby helicopter landing pad. After touching down both men were treated by our on board Intensive Care Paramedic.

The men were then transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
