28th DECEMBER 2010 – THEODORE EVACUATION: Rescue 300 was tasked to evacuate three elderly nursing home patients, and a nurse, after the local hospital flooded. The patients were transported to Biloela and taken to Biloela Hospital by road. Several other privately owned aircraft were also assisting with the transport of Theodore residents.
Aircraft were flying in and out of Biloela Civic Centre car park during the day, with QPS, Council Staff and Fire and Rescue personnel assisting with crowd control, patient lifts and cordoning off the area for the constant air traffic.
Later that same day the helicopter carried out a winch to rescue a man that had been stranded on his roof for most of the day due to rising flood waters. A QAS Intensive Care Paramedic, was winched down to the stricken man to quickly assess his health and then both were retrieved and taken back to Biloela.« Return to “Theodore Evacuation”
