Sunday evening #Rescue300 prepared for a winch task off Mount Roper, near Capella after 4 persons, including 70 year old gentleman, a 42 year old woman and her two children aged 7 and 10 became disorientated atop the mountain after dark.
Due to the terrain and time of day, winch recoveries were conducted for each person. The mother and one of the children were winched into the aircraft first and taken to Clermont Airfield while the Rescue Crew Officer remained on the mountain with the other two patients. The mother and child remained at Clermont airfield with staff while #Rescue300 refuelled before returning to the mountain to retrieved the last two survivors and RCO. The survivors were assessed at the airfield by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and were found to be in good health and relieved to have received the assistance of the #RACQ #CapRescue crew.
